Specializing in floral
depictions and impressionistic landscapes, Patricia
Flaherty works primarily in watercolors and pen and ink.
Much of her work has been devoted to exploring the
expressive possibilities of the loose flowing effects
that one can achieve from watercolor techniques. In her
recent painting she has focused on identifying the ways
that water can interact with line, form, and color to
elicit the less obvious elements of the beauty of our
surroundings and the artistic potential of the shapes
and interactions of everyday objects.
Ms. Flaherty is a member
of the Board of Directors of the Helen Bumpus Gallery in
Duxbury, Massachusetts. She is a juried member of the Cape Cod
Art Association and the Eastham Painters Guild, and her work has
also been exhibited at juried shows sponsored by various other
art organizations. She recently was awarded a first prize by
the Cape Cod Art Association for her watercolor painting
entitled "Soft and Warm.
Her primary residence is
in Duxbury, although she spends most of the spring and summer at
her second home at Eastham on Cape Cod. The natural beauty of
both seacoast towns as well as other New England locales can be
seen reflected in much of her artistic output.
