Aline Gagne was born in French Montreal and educated at the Ecole de Beaux Arts. She took her first job in a French dressmaking firm in Montreal where she did fashion sketches before moving to New York City where she began her own Couturiere Design firm. This business grew into a one-of-a-kind, high-fashion women’s clothing with shops in Manhattan and Cape Cod.

For 23 years, line held fashion shows of her clothing in both New York and on Cape Cod. After 54 years in business, she retired to pursue painting full-time. Aline has been instructing at the Council on Aging in Eastham for 17 years. Her home studio is a magnificent palette of her art in oil, watercolor and pastel media. Her art often features the beautiful scenery of Cape Cod and the wonders of nature which have always inspired her. However, it is not unusual to see a handsome scene from Central Park in Manhattan among her canvases.

SShe is a member of the Creative Arts Center, the Cape Cod Art Association and the Eastham Painters’ Guild. When she is not painting in her studio, Aline can be found painting en plein air with the intention of painting until she is 100 years old.
