Elaine Frens Lobay
Currently
teaching fine and graphic art at Ramsey High School, Ramsey, New
Jersey, Elaine began her art career working as a promotions
artist for the Ridgewood News and later the Newark Star-Ledger.
Painting was first explored in Dumont High School and later
throughout college at William Paterson University. These lessons
proved helpful later in the 1990's when Elaine decided to go
back to oil painting, studying for several years with River Edge
artist Louis Sala and later several years of summer classes at
the Cape Cod School of Art with director Lois Griffel. Through
the years techniques have varied, palette knife painting on
masonite in the Cape Cod School of Art style for several years
and currently back to brush on canvas. Now a summer Eastham
resident, summers are a great opportunity to paint and wind down
from the hectic school year. The lighting and scenery are quite
beautiful and an ever inspiring source for a canvas. Elaine
resides during the school year in Mahwah, NJ with husband and
friend Mike Lobay and have two sons, Mike and Tom, who are in
their twenties.
